Discipleship Ministry

In Christ, we will grow as His disciples by committing ourselves to spiritual disciplines and strong interpersonal relationships.
Our goal is to help our members become Christ’s imitators who accept and assist in the spreading of His doctrines through personal interactions with other members of the body of Christ.
The theme for the discipleship ministry is “where Truth meets Life”. This statement, while simple, holds significant meaning. As Christians, we are constantly absorbing new knowledge about Christ and the life He calls us to. Taking the time to learn is critical in the Christian life, but Christ calls us to do more than to simply hear his Word. He calls us put it into action daily– to truly live it! Through our small groups, we desire to take the message of the Cross and interweave it fully into our lives in practical and visible ways. We will work towards this through three areas of focus: biblical fellowship, worship, and service.
Through worship, we desire to give God glory and to know Him more. This means passionately pursuing an intimate relationship with God through singing songs of praise, studying His true and living word, and cultivating a life of authentic worship.
Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Joshua 1:8
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Through biblical fellowship, we want to demonstrate radical Christian love to one another. This means intentionally caring for and reaching out to one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, sharing our burdens and praises, and committing to be transparent with one another. In order to do so, we want to create an environment where intimate sharing and accountability can take place.
Acts 4:32-34
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them.
Through service, we want to follow Christ’s example in serving and loving others. We want to intentionally live out the gospel and reach out to others in need, both physically and spiritually. This means actively participating in serving our community, both local and international.
Matthew 25:37-40
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
